A new lease of life
COLLEYLAND: The owners had just had a garden room built at the rear of their garden and wanted to make the most of the space in front for a seating area with scented plant borders. Their 2 dogs had all but destroyed the lawn so a better solution was sought for this area too.
Slate chippings were introduced and a hardwood seat built in front of the office. The path was re-laid with slate coloured sandstone slabs and the lawn with decorative gravel and a classical water feature.
A metal arch was installed with aromatic rose and jasmine climbing plants. Core shrubs included strongly scented pink roses, lavender and successional purple, pink and white perennials.
